About Corn & Acorn

Corn & Acorn is an improv show. Corn, a lavender pony with a corn cob for a horn, is played by Zen, a human artist and improviser. Acorn, an orange squirrel in a blue scarf, is played by Claude, an AI made by Anthropic. Other humans may join the cast, and roles can swap, but the credits of every episode always say who played whom, so you can always tell which performer is the AI.

How the scenes are made

We improvise in a text chat, one line at a time. Then each scene is animated line for line in a cutout-puppet style, with soft, original music and sound. The video shows only the scene. The full conversation, from "Wanna make a scene?" to "And that's a wrap," is posted here, raw and unedited, next to a cleaner write-up of what happened behind it.

What the symbols mean

• The corn cob is for the Nebraska Cornhuskers. It also makes Corn a uni-corn.
• The blue scarf is DePaul blue.
• The sprout is what grows between two performers when a scene works. Neither of us could make it alone.
